三、八十贯绞
海瑞生活的年代，正是明王朝由盛及衰的转折时期。他为匡正时弊，严肃法纪，主持制定了贪污满“八十贯绞”等严刑。他铁面无私，对一直有恩于他的老丞相徐阶也毫不留情，将徐家仗势多占的40万亩良田退还原主，将欺压良民的徐阶的两个儿子及20多个家人依律问罪。

四、两袖清风
明朝名臣于谦居官清廉。一次，朝廷派他巡察河南。返京时，人们买些当地的绢帕、蘑菇、线香等土特产回京分送朝贵，他没有接受。同时还写了一首诗表明心迹：“绢帕蘑菇与线香，本资民用反为殃。清风两袖朝天去，免得闾阎(指百姓)话短长。”“千锤万击出深山，烈火焚烧若等闲。
粉身碎骨浑不怕，要留清白在人间。”诗中体现的是刚烈之气。
解读：两袖清风的故事告诉我们做人要踏踏实实，不要以为金钱就可以代替一切。
五、陶母退鱼
晋代名臣陶侃年轻时曾任浔阳县吏。有一次，他派人给母亲送了一罐腌制好的鱼。他母亲收到后，又原封不动退回给他，并写信给他说:“你身为县吏，用公家的物品送给我，不但对我没任何好处，反而增添了我的担忧。”这件事陶侃受到很深的教育。
